Situation 8 You are a Locomotive Driver. You have always been good at your job but recently you have noticed that you have been making a few, very minor errors. These errors do not put any risk on safety but you are still concerned. You have spoken to your Manager about this previously and you received some extra training to deal with the error at the time. You know you could do with the training again but you are embarrassed to ask your Manager for the second time. What do you do now?

a. You are embarrassed and do not want to approach your Manager for the second time about the same issue. So you find all the information that you received before about how to improve yourself and work on that until you get better. It is not a safety risk so it will be fine.
b. You know your Manager may say something that might upset you, so you speak to your colleagues first. They know a little about the additional training. You take their advice and you will then consider speaking to your Manager to get extra help.
c. You know you need some support with the errors you are making. You look back at all the training materials you received before. You try to work on this in your own time and if you feel like you need further help you will ask your Manager regardless of what she might say.
d. Even though the mistakes you are making are not safety risks you know you can do better on the job. You speak to your Manager despite how you feel. Your Manager may state the original training should have been sufficient but she is likely to give you the extra training you need.
